The Street Talk course is NZTA’s Defensive Driving Program. It’s designed to help you become a safer, more aware driver—and if you’re on your restricted licence, it can reduce the wait time before applying for your full licence by 6 months.
The course runs over two weeks, with four 2-hour classroom sessions (Monday and Wednesday evenings), plus one 45-minute in-car driving session. That’s it!
You need to hold at least a restricted licence (car or motorcycle) to enrol. Most students are high schoolers or young adults, but it’s open to anyone with the right licence level.
Pricing is confirmed upon booking and includes all classroom sessions, the driving session, course materials, and your NZTA-approved certificate. (Ray can confirm current rate: e.g. $###–$### typical range.)
All classes are held locally in Bucklands Beach, East Auckland. The exact address is provided after registration. Free parking is available.
Yes! Not only does it reduce your wait time, but it also teaches advanced observation, hazard detection, and decision-making—exactly what the testing officer looks for in a full licence test.
“Ray was super patient and made learning fun. Got my full licence 6 months earlier!”
